Tin is a silver-white metal, non-toxic, and has good solder ability and ductility. Widely used in electronics, food, automotive and other industries. The tin plating process of bolts is classified by the pH value of the plating solution and is divided into two categories: acid plating solution process and alkaline tin plating process.
Acid tin plating has the advantage of fast plating speed. The coating is bright and detailed, and the deep plating ability is good. The bath is highly tolerant of impurities and operates on room temperature to save energy. The disadvantage is that the dispersing ability of the plating solution is poor, the porosity of the coating is high, the brazing is not as good as the alkaline tin plating, and the divalent tin is hydrolyzed. The acid tin plating of bolts is divided into sulfate tin plating, fluoroborate tin plating, chloride tin plating and other processes due to different conductive media.
Sulfuric acid tin plating has low cost, easy to control plating solution, bright and detailed coating, but poor dispersion ability. The market is widely used. The advantages of fluoroborate tin plating are fast plating speed, large current can be used, and good bath stability. Widely used in continuous plating of flange nuts, wires, and strips. Disadvantages are high plating bath cost, high toxicity, and difficult wastewater treatment.
Chloride tin plating is mainly in grain pattern tin plating, which has the advantages of lower cost, stable plating solution, and white coating. The disadvantage is that the current is not large. The advantages of alkaline tin plating of bolts are simple composition, good dispersion of plating solution, fine coating, few pores, and good brazing performance. Disadvantages are high operating temperature, large energy consumption, narrow current usage range, low current efficiency, no bright coating can be obtained, small hard plating, and large impact on anode behavior.
